This year, I decided to go to the annual BETT Show for the first time. I've never really considered myself to be particularly computer literate and certainly not an expert in ICT. This probably reflects my very mixed experience of using computers over the years. I can't really remember having used one until about 1994, and that one had a black screen with green pixellated text. Getting hold of a Mac, using the internet to publish my photography and seeing the value that more interactive online experiences can have in the classroom (and beyond) have definitely transformed my experiences of ICT, so much so that I was recently asked to speak at an ICT conference in Denmark. Anyway, when I found out that Stephen Heppell was speaking at this year's BETT I decided to go along and listen to him. As expected, his talk was very funny and most instructive. I'm always struck by how positive he is, how much he appreciates teachers and the work they do with young people and, most of all, how much faith he has in the abilities of young people. I occasionally take a look at his Phone Blog and was recently surprised and gratified to see that Creative Tallis, the blog for my school's Creativity Action Research Group, has made it onto his blogroll. This is indeed an honour and makes me wonder whether or not he would agree to visit Tallis to give us a pep talk?!
